Adaptive Re-use in Produce Row – NEW!
February 23, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
For well over a hundred years the East Side industrial district was a hub for wholesale food distribution throughout the Pacific Northwest. In recent years, this area of abandoned warehouses and crumbling brick structures has been transformed into a magnet for forward-looking entrepreneurs and an important job generating center on the East Side.
Join us for a view of Portland’s past meeting its future in the “Central Eastside Industrial District”. We’ll begin the tour at the Architectural Heritage Center, a fine example of rehab and re-purposing of one of the oldest commercial buildings on the East Side. (see photo above)
This tour covers about one mile and lasts about 2 hours. Easy urban walk.
Optional social time with food/beverage after the tour.
