Historic Sellwood Walking Tour
June 23, 2018, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm
Sellwood was an independent, incorporated village before it became part of the City of Portland in 1893. Much of the original commercial and residential fabric of “Old Sellwood” remains along Umatilla Street, with several buildings dating back to the 1870s. For the past several decades 13th Avenue has been a destination for antique hunters. The antique shops remain, but brew pubs, designer retail shops and distinctive coffee shops and restaurants now predominate on the streetscape.
We’ll walk along SE 13th Avenue and get a feel for the continuity and change that defines Sellwood in the 21st century. Like many Portland neighborhoods, Sellwood has a mix of well-preserved early 20th century vernacular architecture.
This tour covers about 2 miles on level city streets and will take us about 2 1/2 hours.
Cost is $15. You can pay by check, cash or credit card at the beginning of the tour. You may also use PayPal by following this link: http://bit.ly/22q0waD
